The recommended work load is a program which provides exercise in the range of 50 to 70% of maximum heart rate, or the expenditure of about 300 kilocalories per session. The idea is to slightly overload the cardiac system. Any system which is working at greater than its usual limits will adapt to a greater functional capacity than previously.

Always start slowly and work up to higher levels of intensity over a period of six months. You will usually be recommended to exercise for at least 30 minutes three or four days per week. Make exercise part of your regular routine, enjoy it and get the best out of it.
